February Paris Trip - Report And Pictures
Just before the February half term, we left for Paris with a group of Year 11 and Year 13 students and had a lovely time during our stay.
We travelled by ferry on Thursday evening, which was a first for many of us, and arrived in our first accommodation which was a Château (a castle!) in the middle of the night. The next morning, we discovered the Château by day and enjoyed a French breakfast with pain au chocolat and croissant.
After breakfast, we played games like Jenga and snooker and went on a big scavenger hunt on the site and had to practise our French to win the competition. The winner team was awarded carambar, a popular French sweet. Around midday, we took off for Paris and made it to Montmartre after experiencing the Parisian traffic.
Saturday was a favourite day for many of us: we started at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower for the start of our guided riverboat cruise on the Seine. On the tour, we saw and learned about the history of beautiful landmarks such as Notre Dame de Paris and the Alma Bridge. After the tour, we stopped for photos and souvenirs by the Eiffel Tower and walked towards the Louvre Museum where we saw some of the most famous paintings in the world such as the Mona Lisa and La Liberté guidant le peuple, a famous French painting commemorating the July Revolution of 1830.
In the evening, we stopped to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle which was a highlight for many students (and teachers!). Aliyyah and Anissa said that they had hoped to see the Eiffel Tower during the trip so seeing it sparkle in the night was “a surreal experience”.
Before boarding on the ferry on Sunday, we stopped at an authentic French bakery. This was a fantastic moment as some students ordered in French and many got to try delicious cakes and pastries such as macarons and éclair aux fraises.
About the trip, Aliyyah and Anissa said: “During the trip, we gained new friendships and new connections with people. It was nice to see how everyone was comfortable with each other and got along well. We gained experience from the trip and social skills. It was an amazing experience; one we would love to experience again.”
