After reading Favour's report, see more pictures from our Barcelona trip in our special picture gallery of the experience.
Barcelona Día Uno!
I must admit, Day 1 was stressful. We all had to wake up early in order to get to school on time. Fortunately, I was able to make it and then we all got on the coach to go to Gatwick Airport.
It took so long for the coach to arrive that I don’t even how long we were in the coach for! However, we finally arrived at the airport, and we went through baggage check-in and through security, which took quite a while.
After a few hours, it was time for us to board the plane. This was my first time away from my family traveling to a different country and my second time on a plane, so I was quite nervous, but I’ve always liked the idea of going above the clouds, so I was also quite excited as well.
As the plane took off, I saw sort of fascinating sights - how white the clouds and how blue the sky. It felt we were ascending to heaven! The flight was very relaxing and after a few hours, we started to descend, and we could see the Mediterranean Sea! It was shimmering as the sun shone upon it. We also saw mountains, which still had a bit of snow on top of them. It was such a magnificent sight!
At last, after a three-hour flight, we landed in Barcelona Airport. Immediately, I felt the heat rushing hitting my plane, as soon as we got off the plane, but I wasn’t complaining, as the sun made everything look beautiful and this weather was way better than the weather back in London.
It took us about one hour to get to the hostel using the metro, which was honestly so different from the ones in London; no babies crying nor children shouting. As soon as we arrived, everyone was so tired from carrying around their suitcases and bags, so we had time to rest before we went out again to see the La Sagrada Familia Cathedral. This was a cathedral that the architect, Antoni Gaudi had masterfully designed, but the funny thing is that it’s still under construction! This is because of its unique architecture and how Gaudi created something so artistic and innovative.
After we finished taking photos of the famous cathedral, we had dinner at a buffet and return to the hostel, to relax and eventually go to sleep.

Barcelona Día Dos!
Day 2 of the Barcelona Trip was, in my opinion, the best day. We woke and I was really hungry, so I quickly showered and changed in comfortable clothing, and went down to eat breakfast. Honestly, I was really surprised that the breakfast was delicious. They even had toasters for you to toast your bread and an instants drink machine! I had toast with strawberry jam and hot chocolate, which I was very satisfied with.
After everyone was finished with breakfast, we arrived at the Metro station to go to Park Güell. This was my favourite place out of the whole trip. Park Güell was so glamorous and picturesque. The landscapes were spectacular and the park, itself was exquisite. The park contained lots of structures, many of which are decorated in mosaic tiles. Park Güell was also the place where we saw lots of people selling souvenirs, where I decided to buy a fan for 4 euros, and a bracelet for 2 euros.
Next, we went to La Boquería Market, where we saw lots of people selling meat and I bought a tote bag for 3 euros. After we explored the market, we had lunch and then we went to a Flamenco Dance Workshop, which I really enjoyed as we got to learn how to dance a different style of dance, which I have never done before.
After this, we went to the beach, which was a heavenly sight. The Mediterranean Sea was glistening and crystal clear, with the sandy beach was pleasing to see. Finally, it was the end of the day, and we had dinner and eventually went to sleep.

Barcelona Día Tres!

We went to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, which shows thousands years of art in Barcelona. The walk up the stairs were tiring, but it was worth it, as it had multiple beautiful landscapes and there was a lot of people selling souvenirs every corner. Inside the museum, there were lots of historical artifacts to see.
Día Tres was over so quickly, that I didn’t want to leave Barcelona. I had so much fun exploring a country I’ve never been to before. I will definitely come back to Barcelona with my family or by myself when I’m older.
