Year 8 See 'The Mousetrap' in London's West End
On Thursday 30th March, Ms Morris took three of our Year 8 English classes to see The Mousetrap at St Martin’s Theatre in central London.
The tickets for this wonderful day out were provided by The National Literacy Trust as part of the Young Mystery Writers Project. As part of this project, students have solved a murder mystery in the Library, watched a murder mystery on the stage and will soon be planning and writing their own mystery story with the help of famous YA mystery writer Patrice Lawrence!
Students and staff had a marvellous time at the theatre and could be heard gasping with surprise at revelatory moments. Even though we now know the secrets of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, we can’t tell you about them as we have been sworn to secrecy by the cast.
Ms Magee was incredibly proud of the way the students behaved on the trip. They were compassionate, respectful and polite at all times. Members of the public made a point of telling Ms Magee how impressed they were with the students of HAB.
Clara said: "I thought the trip was really pleasant and the play was a fun experience to watch. It was also enjoyable going on a trip with classmates because it is a different activity compared to our lessons at HAB. Discussing the play during the interval was very entertaining because you could hear other people’s thoughts and share your own. I'm glad the show was a murder mystery because it was interactive; everyone was trying to solve the mystery!"
Niamh said: "I thought the show was really enjoyable because there were twists and turns that I expected and twists that I didn't! It was also really cool that the entire production took place in one room but that you could imagine what was happening in the rest of the house. The theatre was great to look at because it has impressive architecture, and it was incredibly fun being there with my friends. It was entertaining as it was fun to guess the murderer. Even people who solved the mystery were surprised when they realised that they were correct."
