Languages Spelling Bee Success for Team HAB

Seven HAB students participated in the Harris Federation Languages Spelling Bee, held at Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich in June.

The competition featured students from 11 different Harris academies competing to be top spellers in Italian, French, Spanish and Chinese. Highlights for HAB included:

  • First prize Year 8 Spanish, won by Niamh (pictured performing below)
  • Second prize Year 7 French, won by Zakiyah
  • Second prize Year 8 French, won by Jeneba
  • Third prize Year 9 Spanish, won by Mya

Year 8 Spanish was extremely competitive with the judges exhausting all pre-seen vocabulary lists and introducing new words in order to select a winner from the top three students.

Despite their efforts the judges were unable to select an outright winner and, in an unprecedented run of events, Niamh and two other contestants were awarded the top prize!

Well done to all the HAB Languages Spelling Bee team: Faridah, Jeneba, Maria, Megan, Mya, Niamh and Zakiyah.
