Winter Concert 2024: A Celebration of Talent and Creativity
The 2024 Winter Concert was a resounding success, bringing together music and dance in a spectacular showcase of student talent. Across two vibrant shows, our performers amazed audiences with their dedication, creativity, and passion for the arts.
Tuesday Evening: Musical Magic
The week began with a stunning music concert on Tuesday evening, where our students delivered exceptional performances that left the audience in awe. From start to finish, the concert was a testament to the hard work and talent of our young musicians.
Concert Highlights
One of the most unforgettable moments of the evening was Cybella’s breathtaking rendition of Hallelujah, her beautiful voice and emotional delivery moving everyone in the room. Another standout was the performance of two original compositions by Isabella, Maelle, and Lily. These self-written pieces were brimming with creativity and showcased the incredible growth and talent of these musicians.
Special Thanks
The evening wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of so many dedicated individuals. Special thanks go to Gus for lighting and the camera crew, Vidhi, Lola and Blessing from Year 12 for capturing the magic of the evening, and to Mr. Creasey, Lily, and Jess for ensuring flawless sound quality. Behind the scenes, Sara Farina, Joel Knee, Tamas Tezary, Corinne Larzul, Dominic Johnson, and Charlotte Rutherfoord provided invaluable support, ensuring the event ran smoothly.
It was a night to remember, filled with music, creativity, and teamwork. Congratulations to all the performers for an outstanding show!
Thursday: Dancing into Hearts
Today, Thursday, the excitement continued with a dynamic dance performance that ran alongside the music concert. The event was held for three local primary schools, and the audience—composed of enthusiastic Year 5 and Year 6 students—was treated to a dazzling display of choreography and energy.
Dance Highlights
Our very own HABdaco dancers delivered a captivating program, featuring a mix of carnival and contemporary dance pieces that truly “blew the roof off.” The spectacular choreography and passionate performances drew cheers and applause from the crowd.
Adding to the fun, the Year 5 and 6 students got to join in the action. During the interval, they learnt dance moves taught by our talented Miss Abraham. By the end of the show, they were on their feet, dancing along with joy and enthusiasm—a wonderful moment that highlighted the power of dance to bring people together.
Feedback from the Audience
The energy and excitement were palpable, and the young audience members from Deptford Park Primary School shared their thoughts.
- "Wow! It is like watching Britain's Got Talent, it's amazing!" – Saddek, Year 5
- "It was like watching a professional show, it was very well organised." – Ali, Year 5
- "My favourite part was the dancing because they were very talented; and I don't think any of us could do the back flips or dances." – Zainab, Year 5
Teachers from the school also praised the event, sharing that "The children have really enjoyed today's visit to your school and loved the music and dance performances. Dance moves and songs were being practised at the bus stop! Thank you for inviting us to see the show. We hope you all have a lovely restful holiday."
A Brilliant Audience
Both shows this week were met with fantastic audiences who brought energy and support to the performers. Thursday’s young attendees brought a special vibrancy, cheering loudly and joining the fun onstage, making the event truly unforgettable.
A Week to Remember
From the soulful music on Tuesday to the electrifying dance and music performances today, the 2024 Winter Concert series showcased the immense talent within our school community. Thank you to Mr Creasey and Miss Abraham for creating the show and to everyone who contributed to these events and to our brilliant audiences for their support.
