Year 11 HAB Students Win Medals in The Biology Challenge
Two HAB students won silver awards in the 2022 Biology Challenge, run each year by the Royal Society of Biology.
Around 30,000 students from 348 schools worldwide took part in the competition, which is challenging and exceeds the GCSE curriculum. Not only did Lilly and Hope win silver awards, Anissa and Adikat won bronze awards and many other HAB students were highly commended by the Royal Society of Biology.

“I was worried during the test because I didn’t know the topics as it was general knowledge for the whole nation," said Hope. "But I tried my best and was so pleasantly surprised that I got silver. I have a passion for biology so I realised that I knew more than thought and the extra research I do at home really paid off.”
The competition consists of two 25-minute multiple choice papers that are taken online under staff-supervised exam conditions. Questions are set on the school curriculum, but the competition also rewards those students whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest, and are generally aware of our natural flora and fauna.
Well done everyone!
