Year 7 Explore Our Library
During the Autumn term, our Year 7 students had a wonderful time getting to know the school library.
As part of their library induction lessons, students:
- are introduced to new vocabulary using Bedrock
- take part in lots of bookish conversations
- learn about the structure of the library
- use their geography skills to plot a map of the library
- receive a free book to help them build a library at home
- solve a murder!
In a special 'crime scene' lesson students learn that a body has been found in the library! Unfortunately, the police can’t identify it so the girls have to use the clues around the body to work out who the person is. In order to work out the answers, the students have to find specific books in the library using the Dewey Decimal System and looking by alphabetical order.
The Library induction sessions are really important as they provide students with regular opportunities to borrow books and celebrate the joys of reading.
