Year 10 Students Shine at Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Workshop
We are proud to share that 30 of our Year 10 students recently participated in an inspiring Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge workshop, designed to help young people develop their public speaking and communication skills.
The day-long workshop, led by a professional trainer, was a fantastic opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zones and gain valuable experience in the art of public speaking. They engaged in interactive activities and learnt techniques to build confidence, structure engaging speeches, and connect with an audience effectively.
Highlights of the day included:
- Confidence Building: Students learnt how to overcome nerves and project their voice with clarity.
- Storytelling Techniques: Participants explored ways to use personal anecdotes and vivid descriptions to captivate listeners.
- Body Language and Delivery: The importance of gestures, posture, and eye contact was emphasised to enhance presence on stage.
- Peer Support and Feedback: Students worked in small groups to share ideas and provide constructive feedback to one another.
By the end of the session, each student had the opportunity to deliver a short speech, showcasing their newfound skills. The growth in confidence and enthusiasm amongst the group was truly inspiring!
A huge congratulations to the following students who were selected to move on to the next stage of the competition – the assembly finals: Elosie, Hind, Jayda, Lakisha, Isabella and Shekinah!
We would like to thank the Jack Petchey Foundation for offering this fantastic workshop and empowering our students with skills that will benefit them for years to come. We can’t wait to see how these budding speakers continue to develop their talents!
Well done, Year 10!
